Ana Frenes is the present owner of Tree of Life Yoga, a boutique yoga studio founded by Jessica Shi in 2009. She continues to support the mission of TOLY as a studio focused on spine care, postural alignment, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Ana’s love for the body and all its possibilities began with her early training as a modern dancer. She holds a BA in Dance Therapy and an MA in education and has over 30 years of experience teaching the body as a dancer, choreographer and yoga instructor. As a result of many injuries, she has focused on Iyengar yoga classes and the rope wall practice for the past 10 years. Ana has taught dance and yoga for Stockton Unified School District for 25 years. She is the former owner of the Stockton Yoga Center and presently teaches yoga at San Joaquin Delta College. She has been a yoga instructor for the Berkeley Alumni Camps, Lair of the Bear, in Pine Crest for the past 9 years.
Ana is presently completing her 500RYT hours of teacher training at the Yoga Room in Berkeley. She has studied with Jessica Shi for the past 9 years. She received her 200RYT training with Dorothy Sturtevant in an Iyengar inspired program in Sonora. Ana is a ChildLight Mindfulness for the Classroom and Mini Yogis certified teacher. Through her teaching, Ana demonstrates a mindful and compassionate approach with a deep appreciation for students of all ages, abilities, and life experience.
