Class Schedule
Tree of Life Yoga and Spine Therapy offers Iyengar inspired classes for spine care, posture
improvement, and overall musculoskeletal alignment. The in-studio classes are rope/wall-based and are not offered at this time. The following is the schedule for live stream classes offered via zoom. Please send an email for class links.
Sunday 11AM-12PM
Yoga with wall and props
For this practice, you will need a wall space the height of your body with arms extended up and width of arms extended to side, blocks, a few blankets/large towels, chair, and a strap. Class is designed to provide ways to lengthen muscles that may cause unease in the overall body. There is an emphasis on proper alignment of the entire spine. We explore stretches/poses on back, seated, standing, and on the wall using props. Restorative poses and breathing techniques are also provided. There is time for personal feedback and questions. This class is open to all levels.
Tuesday 10-11:15AM
Gentle Yoga
This practice includes stretches on back, seated on mat/chair to warm-up the body fully followed by standing poses using a chair. The focus is on gently allowing the body to ease into the poses with a goal of proper alignment. You will need a few blankets/towels, a small bolster or couch pillow, chair, blocks, and strap. Restorative poses and breathing techniques are provided. There is time for personal feedback and questions. This class is recommended for the beginning practitioner or those with injuries and limited mobility.
Tuesday 12-1PM
Vinyasa with Blocks and Strap
A one hour practice with a flow of movement to open and awaken the full body. This class will include a warm-up on the back or seated followed by a vinyasa with various standing postures. The focus is on proper alignment of the full-body using blocks/straps to adjust. Class includes standing balances and ends with relaxing poses on back. Attention to breathing awareness is emphasized. This class is open to students with regular practice.

Ana Frenes is the present owner of Tree of Life Yoga, a boutique yoga studio founded by Jessica Shi in 2009. She continues to support the mission of TOLY as a studio focused on spine care, postural alignment, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Ana’s love for the body and all its possibilities began with her early training as a modern dancer. She holds a BA in Dance Therapy and an MA in education and has over 30 years of experience teaching the body as a dancer, choreographer and yoga instructor. As a result of many injuries, she has focused on Iyengar yoga classes and the rope wall practice for the past 10 years. Ana has taught dance and yoga for Stockton Unified School District for 25 years. She is the former owner of the Stockton Yoga Center and presently teaches yoga at San Joaquin Delta College. She has been a yoga instructor for the Berkeley Alumni Camps, Lair of the Bear, in Pine Crest for the past 9 years.
Ana is presently completing her 500RYT hours of teacher training at the Yoga Room in Berkeley. She has studied with Jessica Shi for the past 9 years. She received her 200RYT training with Dorothy Sturtevant in an Iyengar inspired program in Sonora. Ana is a ChildLight Mindfulness for the Classroom and Mini Yogis certified teacher. Through her teaching, Ana demonstrates a mindful and compassionate approach with a deep appreciation for students of all ages, abilities, and life experience.
